Heating & air

Handwritten letters for HVAC companies

The new owners just inherited a furnace and an AC unit they know nothing about. Nobody left them the service records. The first cold night it short-cycles, they will call whoever they already know. Make that you.

Sample letter

Welcome to Gilroy!

I’m Mike, I run Valley Air here in Gilroy. Moving in, you probably got a furnace and an AC nobody told you much about.

If you want, I’ll come look them over and tell you straight how much life they have left. No pressure to replace anything.

My cell is (408) 555-0142. Text me anytime.

Why new movers

Why new movers matter for HVAC

Someone just moved in down the street. They don’t have “a guy” yet. Every month, each new household in your zip gets a handwritten letter from you, in your own handwriting, in real ink.

They inherit equipment blind

Sellers rarely hand over filter dates or service records. The buyer has no idea if the system was cared for or ignored.

The first breakdown picks the company

When the heat goes out, people call the name they already have. A letter on the fridge is that name.

One system, many years of work

Win the house early and you are the one they call for tune-ups, repairs, and the eventual replacement.

Beyond new movers

One-time sends that fit HVAC

No subscription needed. You bring the reason and the addresses, we write and mail them once. From $2.95 a card.

  • Tune-up reminders before each seasonA note to past customers before the first heat wave or the first cold snap. Easier to book in the shoulder season than in a rush.
  • After an installA thank-you to the homeowner, and a note to the street: “We just put a new system in down the block.”
  • Past customers you haven’t seenA short note to people you serviced a few years back and haven’t heard from since.

Exclusive

One HVAC company per zip

Your territory is a zip code. Hold it, and no new household there hears from another HVAC company through LocalLetters. Not like shared leads sold to three to five companies, and not an ad auction you have to win again tomorrow.

Smaller zips go to one company. Bigger ones take a bigger plan, or get split between two or three, but no household ever hears from two companies in the same trade. Other trades can hold the same zip, so a plumber and a roofer aren’t competing for it.

Questions

What HVAC companies ask

HVAC is seasonal. Does a new-mover letter work in spring or fall?

People move every month, so letters go out every month. Write the note so it covers both heating and cooling, and change the wording whenever you like.

Can I put a tune-up offer in the letter?

Yes. It’s your letter, in your handwriting. A first-visit inspection or a tune-up price is a common thing to mention.

Do new movers include renters?

The move data includes people who bought and people who signed a lease. Renters still need someone when the AC quits. Text Daniel if you want to talk through your zip.

What does it cost?

Plans are $249, $449 or $999 a month for up to 50, 100 or 250 cards. That covers the move data, the cards, envelopes, writing, stamps and mailing. Cancel any time. See pricing.
